RIDGEWOOD · RESIDENT SAFETY
Storm & Flood Readiness
What every Ridgewood resident should know before storm season, based on Sarasota County’s own guidance.
Know your zone
Evacuation levels and flood zones are different
Sarasota County uses evacuation levels A through E, with Level A the most vulnerable and evacuated first. As a manufactured-home community, Ridgewood always evacuates at Level A, regardless of its own level, so use the lookup below for general awareness and to confirm your address, not to decide whether to leave.
Flood insurance is based on a separate, FEMA-based flood zone system. Check both every year since they can be revised.
For your flood zone, search Sarasota County’s flood zone map at scgov.net, or call the office.
Shelters
County shelters open when an evacuation is ordered and accept pets. Always confirm a shelter is open before heading there.
Before a storm
A short checklist
Plan to leave at Level A
As a manufactured home, you evacuate when Sarasota County calls Level A, whatever your own zone says. Decide now where you’ll go and how you’ll get there.
Keep documents handy
Insurance papers, identification, and community documents in one place you can grab quickly. See the Documents page.
Secure the outside of your home
Outdoor furniture, awnings, and loose items should be secured or brought inside ahead of a storm.
Follow official county instructions
